A user conference by any other name…
What’s in a name? Well, in the case of DIALOG, quite a lot it seems!
You certainly don’t have to be a genius to figure out that the name DIALOG is derived from the fortuitous connection between the words “dialog” and “ILOG” (nor that “DIABLOG” is itself derived from the even more fortuitous connection between the words “DIALOG” and “blog”).
You might not be aware, though, that the name ILOG is itself a combination of two French words - “intelligence” and “logiciel” - that translates to “intelligent software.” (You might not be aware, either, that the combining of two or more words or parts of words in this way is known as a “portmanteau” - itself a combination of two French words “porte” and “manteau” that translates to “coat rack.” Go figure. But I digress…)
As I’ve found out over the past few weeks, the DIALOG event team has put a huge effort into making this a real forum for ILOG customers to develop strong, long-term relationships with ILOG and its user community and to share and discuss their innovative strategies, best practices, and leading-edge solutions. What better name, then, than DIALOG to capture the essence of ILOG’s first US-based user conference in over five years?
Over the next three weeks, in the run up to the conference, I’ll be sharing some fascinating insights into the many intelligent people and organizations that will be showcased at the event - people who use ILOG’s intelligent software and services to make intelligent decisions faster and to successfully compete in complex and rapidly changing business environments.
So stay tuned - and if you haven’t done so already, register now for DIALOG 08 - it could be the most intelligent thing you do all day!
